English Garden Cupcakes

This was an order for a lady who loves flowers and all things botanical, so I came up with this design. Vanilla cupcakes with rosewater infused buttercream, with buttercream roses and flowers.

Rainbow cupcakes

This is one of our trademark Kupkakeinator cupcakes, and we get asked for them a lot!

Here is a closeup picture of the cupcakes, so you can see what they look like more clearly:

No trickery, no fake coloured paper cakes - our cakes are actually made from rainbows! ;)

Great for kids parties.... or big kids parties! Prices for our regular buttercream cupcakes start at £1, rainbow at £1.25 and fondant at £2 per cupcake.

Birthday Cupcakes

This was an order for 24 cupcakes, 12 rainbow and 12 chocolate, with fondant topper message "Happy Birthday Ant!".

We get several orders like this a week at Kupkakeinator, for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and sometimes just for a treat! We can make the flavours and designs to suit you and your event!

Here is a pic of the finished order:

"Anti-matter" Cupcakes

I made these cupcakes for an order after being inspired by the amazing colours from the explosion of anti-matter in Angels and Demons.... Do they remind you of that too? The cupcakes themselves are rainbow, and the frosting is vanilla.

Here they are:

This simple, elegant yet beautiful design is very popular for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and more! We can incorporate any colours you want into this design, and add toppers such as a message, or numbers on the top to make them extra-special.

Street Fighter Retro Cake

Another retro gaming cake..... yay!

This cake was for a gamer who competes nationally and internationally on a regular basis, so the stakes were high! We created a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream covering - no fondant or royal icing at all - the design is all done by hand.

Here are some pictures:

Looks great doesn't it? Very happy with this cake, as was our gamer.

Retro Sega Cake

Time to update on some of our retro cakes.... this one is a SEGA cake for a retro game addict. Vanilla cake, dyed blue, covered in buttercream and fondant, and "SEGA" piped on in royal icing and covered in blue glitter.

Here is a pic of the cake:

The birthday gamer loved the cake, so all was well!

Tartan Cake

An unusual cake was requested recently, a birthday cake made to look like the famous Douglas clan tartan. As making cake look like something else is our speciality at Kupkakeinator, we couldn't wait to get started on this special joint birthday cake.

The cake was made from sticky ginger cake, with lemon buttercream and decorated solely in buttercream. This is a great option for those who don't like marzipan or fondant.

Here is a shot of the finished cake:

The cake got the seal of approval from the Douglases, what a relief!

Dedication bible cake

This cake was for a dedication or christening cake for four children. Mum and Dad chose vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream, covered in fondant and decorated with the children's names. The sides of the cake were dusted with real gold dust to make the cake look like an open bible.

Here is a shot of the side of the cake:

And one of the top:

The dedication was a great success, and everyone loved the cake! All the best to your futures to Josh, Emily, Julia and Christian from all your family and friends.

Whimsical slice of cake

This has to be one of my all time favourite cakes that we have done. Inspired by whimsical topsy turvy madness, we made this slice of cake - chocolate cake with chocolate ganache covered and decorated in fondant. Everything on this cake is edible!

Here is a photo of the cake:

Isnt it cute? I love the little cherry, and the "dripping" sauce down the side. Absolutely perfect as a ladies gift to a friend, or a little present to yourself.

Giant Cupcake Birthday Cake

Hello Kupakeinator fans!

Mr and Mrs Williams ordered their wedding cupcake tower from us, and I am delighted to say they returned for Mr Williams' birthday cake.

The surprise cake was a similar design to the cutting cake they had at the wedding, carrot cake, fondant decoration and buttercream topping.

Here is a photo of the finished cake:

We love this design, so cute, so vintage and so yummy!

Sugar Rose wedding cake

Its been a busy few weeks here at Kupkake HQ, so I will try and catch up on the posts to fill you in on the latest caking adventures!

A recent cake we did was for an old friend who recently got married. The bride wanted a quite traditional and elegant cake in fondant, but with some beautiful red sugar roses and draping to add a modern touch.

We designed a two tier vanilla cake with raspberry preserve, vanilla buttercream and fondant, with three huge sugar roses and fondant draping.

Here is a closeup of the sugar rose

Everyone loved the cake, so great success! Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Harrison!

Peppa Pig Cake and Cookies

Another special order for this week was a very important cake for Alyssa's 2nd Birthday. Her mummy asked for a two tier chocolate cake with Peppa Pig and George on the top, and this was the result:

Im very pleased with how this cake turned out. Here is a closeup of the fondant topper:

They look really cute dont they? The bonus is that everything on this cake was edible - something I always try and do especially for kids cakes.

Alyssa's mummy also ordered yummy Peppa Pig cookies for the gift bags. Here I made my own cutter and the result was pretty good! What do you think?

Happy 2nd Birthday Alyssa!

Jen & Aaron's Wedding Cupcakes!

Well its been a busy few weeks for Kupkakeinator, orders coming in thick and fast.

The 13th August 2010 was the wedding of two close friends Jen and Aaron, and I had the honour of doing their wedding cupcake display for them.

After about ten hours of hard work, the cakes were all baked and decorated, ready to go! We went to the venue and arranged them before we went to the ceremony. I was very pleased with how the display turned out, the bride's colour themes were scarlet and black and white - see how beautiful the decor looked!

The bride and groom had opted for a variety of flavoured cupcakes; vanilla, lemon, chocolate, coffee and black forest. The giant cupcake was carrot cake.

The day was a bit rainy, but held off for the most of it, the bride looked beautiful, the ceremony was very emotional and the party was fantastic. A really gread day for all.

The happy couple are now on a fantastic honeymoon to Venice then a cruise. All that remains is to wish them a very happy future life together as Mr & Mrs!

Baby cupcakes in fondant

Hello again! More Kupkakinator antics.

A friend of mine has just had their first child, a little girl, so I thought it would be nice to make them a gift instead of buying one.

So from the planet cake book I made the baby fondant cupcakes. These were really fun, so cute! Quite fiddly, as everything is small, but I guess practice makes perfect. I was pretty pleased how these turned out - what do you think?

Here are some close up shots of the two styles

Arn't they sooo cute?? Definitely better than buying another babygro!

Enjoy!

First attempt with Fondant

Hello All!

I was recommended the Planet Cake book by a friend, so got it for my birthday and couldn't wait to try it out! Its got some beautiful ideas in and is clear, with diagrams and pictures to show you what to do.

Here is my first attempt anyway:

I'm quite impressed with them considering I haven't worked with fondant for about ten years! The secret is the ganache stage to make the top level and smooth for the fondannt. They do look soooo pretty, and professional. I am definately going to do these again, probably for a birthday present for someone.

I have a bunch of recent baking photos to load, please check back soon!

Happy baking!
